On behalf of all the students and faculty of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance,
we extend our congratulations to our colleague, the composer and educator Zohar Sharon, on receiving the Yitzhak Navon Prize for his contribution to Israeli and Jewish culture and for the promotion of creative work.
The award ceremony took place at the President’s Residence on Wednesday, 8 Sivan 5784, June 5, 2024.
This year’s laureates alongside Zohar included the writer Eli Amir, the singer-songwriter Oshi Masala, the filmmakers David Ofek and Uriya Hertz, and the visual artists Michal Shekhnai Yakobi and Ruth De Vries.
We wish Zohar Sharon many more years of meaningful and fruitful work. His original compositions, his courageous artistic practice, and his role as the founder and artistic director of the Revolution Orchestra constitute a remarkable life’s work whose impact resonates throughout Israeli society.
